Committees

We encourage our members to become more involved by joining one of our committees.  These groups are dedicated to furthering the mission of the Rocky Mountain Southwest Chapter of NATAS by helping our organization better serve our membership.

Awards Committee

Chair:  Carol Lynde,  1st Vice President

The Awards Committee is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the Awards process.

Chair Responsibilities (with support from the committee):

  • Review new categories from National call document annually
  • Updating the call categories annually (with committee)
  • Editing and revising call for entries document
  • Working with Executive Director to resolve any issues or questions relating to entries
  • Final entry processing prior to judging
  • Coordinating curve cut meeting
  • Attend annual National Awards meeting
  • Working with Executive Director on judging trades with other chapters

Committee Responsibilities:

  • Participation in curve cut meeting
  • Proofing of all call documents
  • Annual category review

 

Emmy Event Committee 

Chair:  Suzanne Guery, 2nd Vice President  

The event committee is responsible for the Rocky Mountain Emmy Awards annual gala including Nomination Parties in four cities. The committee will be responsible for the contract/planning/budget for the event.

 Chair Responsibilities (with support from the committee):

  • Gather event venue options for board consideration and approval
  • Create budget and contract for event and venue for board consideration and approval
  • Create plan for additional activities/vendors during the gala
  • Create and proof printed program
  • Secure sponsorship and silent auction items
  • Production of event rundown and scripting
  • Nomination party planning for 4 markets and announcement slide show
  • Print Materials for event: statuette signout, presenter scripts, recipient envelopes
  • Pre-taped presenter videos for the event
  • Work with backstage manager/AV and any additional vendors to coordinate event
  • Manage dress rehearsal

Social Media Committee

 Chair:  Doug Mummert

The Social Media Committee is responsible for maintaining and increasing the positive image of the Academy to its membership and the regional community. The Social Media Committee works closely with the Event Committee and with the Awards Committee, and will contribute to the publicity surrounding events.

Chair Responsibilities (with support from the committee):

  • Create a schedule for social media posts
  • Create a marketing plan to increase member engagement
  • Keep the board informed of new ways (or channels) to use to increase the brand recognition of RMSW NATAS

Education Committee

Chair: Chuck Emmert, Trustee

The Education Committee is responsible for the creation, design and implementation of programs and relationships that will enhance the Academy’s goal of educational leadership as set forth in the National constitution.  These programs may include the Student Production Awards, Career Day, the acquisition of student committees, the awarding of scholarships, as well as working with the Program Committee and/or educational facilities to devise programs of an educational benefit to members. To assist in this endeavor, specific related committees may be appointed by the Executive Committee.

Chair Responsibilities (with support from the committee):

  • Student Production awards
    • Call for entries, working with ED on resolving issues relating to entries nominees and recipients, managing curve cut meeting
    • Marketing plan to promote awards and call for entries
  • Plan of communication to universities regarding new student committees
  • Plan of receiving and awarding scholarships
  • Plan for Professional Development Scholarship
  • Work with ED to secure judges
  • Launch professional training scholarship (memorial scholarship)

 Committee Responsibilities:

  • Outreach to form new student committees at NAU, UofA, UNM, BYU
  • Outreach to increase high school and college student production award entries
  • Present scholarship award nominees to board for approval
  • Manage the professional training memorial scholarship process and approve candidates

 

Silver/Gold Circle Committee

Chair: Dr. John Craft

The Silver Circle committee is responsible for soliciting nominees annually for induction into the Silver and Gold Circle Societies, and for reviewing and selecting the candidates.  The induction is held at a ceremony to be annually (usually at the Emmy Awards Gala).  It is recommended that Silver/Gold Circle committee members be comprised of Board members and former inductees.

Chair Responsibilities (with support from the committee):

  • Marketing plan around the call for nominations (dates to be included)
    • Social Media, emails (content and frequency), Website, Press Release
  • Coordinate with Executive Director on notifying the inductees
  • Welcome the inductees at registration and take them to their seats (drink ticket) and intro to ED and President (committee assists)

Committee Responsibilities:

  • Email communications around revising the call for nominations form and marketing plan
  • Annual Nomination Meeting attendance
  • Ability to keep all discussions and final decisions confidential
  • All members of the committee must recuse themselves from the decision making process when appropriate
  • Promotion of the nomination period to increase nominations

 

Regional Market Committees

These committees are focused on driving awareness and engagement from the outlying markets in our chapter. Each committee will report to the Committee Chair and work to establish a plan of action for the year. Goals include:

  • Driving membership and entries
  • Growing attendance at the nominations parties
  • Encouraging attendance at the Annual EMMY Gala
  • Gathering feedback on ways we can become a greater resource to these members
