Frankie McLister is currently a master’s candidate at Arizona State University’s Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. He completed his undergrad at Cronkite in December 2019 and is set to finish his master’s at Cronkite in August 2020. McLister currently is the Student Rep and co-social media chair for Rocky Mountain Emmy’s. He began his Emmy experience as a volunteer at the Capital Emmy’s when he was in high school! A Maryland native, McLister began his love for the media industry while interning at WJLA-TV in Washington, D.C. There, he met a Cronkite alum which convinced him to move to Arizona and attend ASU for his collegiate career. At ASU, McLister is a member of the Leadership Scholarship Program, a program composed of student leaders under the discretion of ASU Senior VP and Secretary Dr. Christine Wilkinson. In addition, he is a Borderlands Reporter for Cronkite News/Cronkite Noticias (the news division of Arizona PBS) and a Graduate Research Assistant for ASU Graduate College. Outside of Cronkite, he works at The Kim Komando Show as a Production Assistant. He has also interned at NBC’s TODAY Show and worked for Apple, Inc. as a Campus Rep.
Having studied in Spain, in the future, McLister dreams of becoming a bilingual broadcast reporter focusing on international/global issues or simply being a bilingual correspondent for a morning show. He is a big fan of airplanes, spicy food, hot tubbing with friends, sunsets and people. McLister says it is an honor to have the opportunity to be a part of such a great NATAS family and hopes to use his skills and student mindset to help impact the Rocky Mountain Chapter!
